MASTERLY HAND CRAFTED OLD JAPANESE STERLING SILVER 960 MODEL YACHT BY SEKI JAPAN
Overview: This is a finest quality masterly hand crafted vintage signed silver model ship/yacht by master Japanese silversmith Seki Takehiko II. The boat is marked “silver 960" and signed Takehiko, it sits on a silver plated sea with waves and mounted to a wooden base, encased in a glass case cover, please see photos. Seki Takehiko was born 1908 in Chiba Prefecture. in 1922 he moved to Tokyo where he became an apprentice to the famed master-silversmith, Tajima Katsuyuki. Master Seki later perfected his craftsmanship under master Kosaka Munehiro until 1936 when he was able to establish himself as a silversmith in his own right . His exquisite and refined gold and silver works of art including "Yacht","Treasure Ship","Clipper Ship","Gosho-Guruma","Kabuto","Ohgi","Japanese Crane","Lucky Mallet","Five-Storied Pagoda","Covered Wagon" and "Knight" are highly admired .
Condition / Particulars: This finest quality Japanese sterling silver exquisite masterly hand crafted Japanese sterling silver model ship yacht is in excellent vintage condition with only minor age wear with no breaks, no damage and no repair. Base (Sea) is Silverplated.
Weight: The total weight of the yacht with the glass case is 25.2 oz or 714 grams.
Size & Measurements: The ship measures approximately 4 1/8 inches or 10.5 cm long and stands 5 inches or 12.5 cm in height. The glass case measures 7 5/8 inches or 19.3 cm long x 7 1/8 inches or 17.8 cm high x 4 3/8 inches or 11.1 cm wide.
